As parents ourselves, we understand the challenges being faced across the globe with the indefinite closure of schools. So, we thought we would give you a helping hand with some ideas for a bit of musical fun to keep the kids entertained; and hopefully some peace and quiet for mums and dads too!

Enter the Warwick Music Online Festival!

We understand that many children will be feeling disappointed about the cancellation of their grade exams, concerts and special performances that they have been practising for.

We love to see everyone experiencing the joy of making music, so we figure if they can't perform in their concert, or take their exam, they can share it with us instead in a virtual music festival! Click on the button below to find out more...

Experiments with sound that you can try at home

10 Fun Sound Facts

  • There is no sound in space because there is nothing for the sound waves to bounce off.
  • An echo is produced when the sound waves are bounced off of an object, rather than being absorbed.
  • The loudest natural sound on Earth is a volcano erupting.
  • Thunder is the sound produced by the rapid heating of air by a lightening strike.
  • The sound of a whip cracking is made when the whip is travelling faster than the speed of sound.
  • Hot and cold water make different noises.
  • Sound travels 4 times faster in water than it does in air.
  • Dogs hear higher pitched sounds than people so they can hear some sounds that are so high, people can not even hear them.
  • Dolphins can hear sounds under water from as far as 15 miles away.
  • Whale voices can travel up to 479 miles through the ocean's water so they can communicate with each other across huge distances.

Kate has always had a love for music and after starting to play the clarinet aged six went on to study music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She joined Warwick Music Group in 2010 as Social Media Manager and now serves as Chief of Staff where her role is the day to day management of the team. She ensures activities are streamlined within the organisation, supporting the priorities of the business to help it grow. She now spends most of my spare time supporting my three children as they learn their own instruments!
